In IGN’s NieR: Automata review, we said it is a “crazy, beautiful, and highly entertaining journey full of nutty ideas and awesome gameplay. What made NieR: Automata so special was the fact that players would need to complete multiple playthroughs to experience the entire story, which allowed them to view specific events from different characters’ perspectives. NieR: Automata was first released in 2017 from PlatinumGames and Square Enix and is set during the war between alien-created machines and human-created androids. Oh, and these NIKKE are artificial soldiers created to save humanity in a post-apocalyptic future on an Earth that was invaded by mechanical aliens. GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE is an immersive sci-fi RPG shooter that features an extensive roster of maidens that players can create the ultimate anime girl squad with, complete with guns and unique sci-fi weapons that are capable of taking down any foe in the right hands. As if this collaboration wasn’t already a perfect match, fans will also appreciate that NieR: Automata’s 2B and NIKKE’s Rapi both share a voice actor in Yui Ishikawa. While all the details have yet to be revealed about what fans can expect from this team-up, it is confirmed that 9S’ hacking game from NieR: Automata will make its way into NIKKE.įurthermore, there will be a special coordinated operation called Gatekeeper that will see an exclusive boss appear in the collaboration event’s co-op mode. 2B will get a brand-new weapon design that can only be seen in NIKKE. Fans of NieR: Automata will be delighted to know their favorite characters will also be getting an updated look that retains the original NieR’s style and applies it to NIKKE’s dynamic technology that will make the characters even more vivid. 2B and A2 will also be getting their NieR: Automata Metamorphic Damage Costumes that will be unlocked as long as 2B and A2 are in their recruitment. Some of the exclusive rewards include Pascal as a free SR character, 2B and A2 costumes that will unlock after players get them as playable characters, two free Avatars (white frame and YoRHa frame), and free wallpaper. Next is the part that is the most fun: I work on adding details on a high quality model.Besides the blended storyline, players will also be rewarded for participating in this collaboration. It is difficult to regress 3D models these days, so it is also necessary to design the data while looking ahead to the impact that it may have on the project in the future. Is this silhouette going to be final? Is it created in a way that the animators won’t have a hard time animating? How many bones will it have and how will we control the parts that will move?ĢB was also a character that would become the benchmark for the project, so I had to think about the basis for body proportions and modelling, designing the shader, and even the cost associated with mass production, all while creating this rough model. When we mention a rough model, you may think that it can be very rough, but this is actually where I have to tax my brain quite a bit. I then had our game director Yoko Taro check the model as well and received a “great!” from him! I had referenced many things to create this model, such as games that Yoshida-san had worked on in the past (the character models for Final Fantasy XII are amazing…).
