Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, ( F) I will pay back four times the amount.” ( G)ĩ Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. Now a certain man was ill, Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. They lived in a town called Bethany, about two miles from Jerusalem. The three siblings were also close friends of Jesus Christ. Mary and Martha were the sisters Lazarus, the man Jesus raised from the dead. ( C)ĥ When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. Luke (chapter 16) tells of Jesus’ parable of the rich man and Lazarus, but this Lazarus (a beggar) isn’t the one whom Jesus raised from the dead. The story of Mary and Martha takes place in Luke 10:38-42 and John 12:2. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig ( B) tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. ![]() 3 He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. 38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 2 A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. ![]() He didn’t rush off to heal his friend or even head to a. ![]() When Jesus heard that Lazarus was unwell, he stayed put for two more days. 19 Jesus entered Jericho ( A) and was passing through.
